Hurghada, in old days a small fishing village and the governorate city for the oil plants in the Golf of Suez, is located app. 500 km south/east of Cairo.
Being only 4h flight distance from Europe away, the village developed since the seventies to a popular touristic city.
The town with an app. length of 20km is divided in three suburbs Dahar, Sekkala and the Touristic Village. Sekala with its own port is the old part of the town. Meanwhile it developed to a suburb with a lot of shops, reataurants, bars, and caffées. The newly renovated port with its promenade is inviting for a walk, have something to drink, eat and relax.
The new Village Road with a length of 6km with its big pedestrian area in the Touristic Village is the home of the new Steigenberger Al Dau Beach Resort and Ilios Dive Club. The Red Sea is the nearest tropical ocean to Europe. With a lenght of 2600 km and a max. width of 400 km it is quiet a small ocean. Due to hot under water dwells the water temperature never drops below 21°C, even in winter time. If you are diving you will feel nearly no difference between shallow water and deeper levels.
Because of the constant temperature, the Red Sea is the Ocean with the most corals worldwide. Expect an explosion of colors with a variety of over 1000 different fisches and marine life. It will be an experience you will never forget.
